4th Grade Math
Unit 4
Unit 4 is the beginning of a more indepth look at decimals through thousandths. We will also be exploreing metric units of lenth, including conversions. Unit 4's four main areas to focus on are:
- extend the base-ten pace-value system to decimals
- review and extend basic concepts, notation, and application for decimals
- extend whole-number methods of addition and subtraction to decimals
- review the relationship among metric units of length
Unit 2
Unit 2 is all about using numbers and organizing data. The three main areas of focus for this unit are examining different uses and equivalent names for numbers and review the base-ten place value system. We will also review procedures for addition and subtraction of multi-digit whole numbers. Students will also be reintroduced to data collection, organization, display and analysis, as well as extend these ideas.

Unit 1
Unit 1 will begin by introducing the Everyday Math resources and procedures, then start study the geometry of 2-dimenstional shapes. We will examine definitions and properties of shapers and the relationships among them. We will also use compasses to construct shapes and create your own geometric designs!

Dear Parents,
Here are some "Do Anytime Activities" for Unit 1. They will reinforce the skills and concepts your child is learning at school.
- help your child identify real-world examples of right angles (the corner of a book) and parallel lines (railroad tracks).
- have your child compile a shapes scrapbook or create a collage of labeled shapes. Images can be taken from newspapers, magazine, and photographs.
